During the natural gas boom of 2006-2008, urban exploration for hydrocarbons created a new demand for noise mitigation of ever-changing noise sources related to natural gas exploration and production.
From the exploration end, seismic and drilling-related activities wreaked noisy havoc on local communities.
While on the production and transmission end, natural gas compression and pipeline meter stations created their own unique noise problems.
Temporary Sound Barrier Solution
While the vast majority of sound walls and noise barriers are designed to be in place indefinitely, other temporary and changing applications demanded a more flexible approach.
At the same time, a temporary sound barrier could not sacrifice attenuation performance.
In response, our team at Sound Fighter Systems developed a new concept of a free-standing and fully mobile version of our renowned noise absorbing material.
The barriers, which they called mobile noise barriers, provided the flexibility and performance needed for a wide variety of changing and morphing noise sources.
These noise barriers are available in numerous sizes, including a whopping 24’ tall version, to accommodate the most common noise sources, including large and small gas compressors. And they incorporate top-end acoustic performance despite their mobility.
Long Lasting and Durable Material
While the 2009 collapse in natural gas pricing led to a slump in the use of mobile barriers in that market, the mobile noise barrier concept took-off in a number of other unrelated markets. The fact that mobile noise barriers can be:
- Disassembled
- Transported
- Stored
- Reused
On other sites makes them a valuable tool in many commercial markets.
Mobile Noise Barriers remain a popular and needed noise treatment option for many temporary outdoor applications in the Oil & Gas industry and many outdoor applications.
